Hi there, I am so glad you are here.
I’m Elizabeth Travis, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Day By Day Psychotherapy, LCSW PLLC. I started this solo practice in 2023 to make quality mental health care more accessible in the Hudson Valley and across New York State through virtual therapy. I’m especially passionate about supporting individuals from mixed cultural and ethnic backgrounds who are navigating anxiety, depression, and major life transitions.
My professional path in mental health care has taken me through roles within inpatient and outpatient medical settings, where I gained valuable experience in case management, community based counseling, chronic illness support, and helping older adults access the care they need. But just as impactful has been my own lived experience, growing up in a single mother household and witnessing the effects of severe and persistent mental health struggles within my family. These early experiences gave me a deeply personal understanding of how mental health care can shape a person’s life and relationships. They’re a big part of why I am called to this work and approach it with great empathy, curiosity, and a genuine respect for each person’s experiences.
In our work together, I strive to create a space where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we’ll work together to explore what you’re going through, build on your strengths, and develop tools to help you move forward. When it feels supportive to do so, I will gently invite you to reflect on long held beliefs that might be getting in the way of your growth. I also incorporate mind-body based practices (also called somatic approaches) to assist in deepening understanding of both emotional and physical experiences, and how they impact one another. Many individuals I work with come to therapy looking to untangle a mix of emotions while also processing the impact of larger systemic and cultural challenges, including issues related to racial identity and inequities in care.
It’s an honor to walk alongside my clients as they learn more about themselves, heal, and reconnect with what matters most. I’d be grateful for the chance to support you as you navigate your own journey, day by day.
